A trade mission composed of five technology Costa Rican companies traveled to India this week to participate in the Indiasoft 2009 international fair, which takes place in the city of Calcutta from February 26 to 27.
Representatives of the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer) and the Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (CAMTIC) accompanied the five IT companies: EFIBS Solutions, Tecnologías Apropiadas Tecapro, Exceltec Business Solutions, MAS Banking (Prides S.A.) and the online portal Radar TI.
The Costa Rican delegation represents the largest and most structured attending this event.
This Costa Rican trade mission seeks new business opportunities for IT companies, including niche markets such as mobile applications.
CAMTIC's President, Alexander Mora, who accompanies this trade mission, said the importance of this event is that "the future of the IT sector in Costa Rica is international," because the Costa Rican market is very small.
“These activities and tasks are the links that allow us to create visibility and opportunities for IT companies", stressed CAMTIC's President.
According to Alexander Mora, the technology sector of Costa Rica generates interest and curiosity at the international level, having succeeded in building "a reputation for being competitive, dynamic and innovative." In addition, other countries see Costa Rica as a regional reference and as a respectable competitor despite being a small country.
During this visit to India, CAMTIC takes will identify niches of opportunity for technology businesses and practices. This business association will also look for potential products and services that may be interested in the selling in the Latin American market. CAMTIC will as well explore partnerships to work with companies whose activities should be implemented by nearshore outsourcing, to attend clients located in countries like the United States and Canada.
Procomer's Economic Studies Analyst, Jorge Hernández, will collect information for a study on the market of information and communication technologies (IT) in India, their niches and potential. He will also negotiate the Costa Rican participation in the 2010 edition of Indiasoft and other future IT events in India.
The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) is the Indiasoft organizer, and invited the Costa Rican IT companies to participate in this event.
Costa Rica is one of the seven Latin American countries participating in Indiasoft 2009. After the event, CAMTIC's authorities will report the preliminary results of this trade mission to India.
