Digital animation and video games companies of Costa Rica seek business opportunities in United States

Seven companies in digital entertainment and video games of Costa Rica traveled to Los Angeles, California, this week to participate in the SIGRAPH 2010 technology fair.

This Costa Rica trade mission includes companies such as Fair Play Labs and the Costa Rica Animation Holding, composed of Estudio Flex, Martestudio, Quinema Producciones, Figueroa Producciones, Spacedog and Morpho Animation Studio.

These companies seek to position their products and services in the international market of video games, digital animation and special effects, as well as promote Costa Rica's export in these areas.

Business & positioning

During his visit, the seven Costa Rica companies will hold meetings with leading companies such as Visual Effects Society, National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), SuperFab, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Concept Share, Play Time and StudioSys Admins. They could also close business with companies like Fox and Sony/Columbia.

SIGRAPH 2010 began on Sunday July 25 at the LA Convention Center and will run until Thursday July 29. The general public can visit the exhibition area from Tuesday 27 July.

In addition to one on one meetings, Costa Rican companies will have a booth at the show and will make a country presentation to the press and potential customers.

The event also represents an opportunity to learn about new industry trends, competition and their products.

According to data disclosed by PROCOMER, the entertainment industry is composed of more than 13.100 companies and provides jobs for about 266.000 people. Its revenues exceed US$60.000 million (US$60 billion) and the current trend focuses on video games, web development and 2D and 3D technologies, among others.
