The Sentinel IT system, developed by the Costa Rican company Smartsoft, was included in the catalog of the 20 most innovative ideas of 2010, published by the specialized weekly El Financiero, Costa Rica.
Sentinel stood out among more than 100 ideas postulated. The use of neural networks and artificial intelligence based technology for the prevention of fraud made this IT system stand out against other initiatives.
As part of this recognition and awards, owners and founders of Smartsoft, Paul Elizondo and Jairo Villalobos, were interviewed and asked to participate in the awards ceremony.
During the event, El Financiero rewarded the effort of Smartsoft as part of a wave of young entrepreneurs, who seek to innovate and go beyond the conventional, to meet the needs of a potential market while contributing to the creation of jobs based on the intellectual abilities of its employees.
"Thus gradually Sentinel continues to gain ground, not only in the market for new technologies, but in civil society, which seeks to protect its interests", the company said in a press release.
According to spokesmen for the Costa Rican company, security against fraud is a need that financial institutions must address to build the confidence of its customers. That is why the work of Smartsoft is developed as "a process of continuous improvement of their IT systems" for the benefit of its customers.
