The Costa Rican company Three Rivers Software developed a technological solution to the Codex Alimentarius Commission, a program of the Organization of the United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The developed application allows these organizations to manage e-mails received about Codex Alimentarius in Costa Rica, through the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC, by its Spanish acronym).
This function is vital, as the Codex Alimentarius Commission develops food standards, regulations and other documents that protect consumers worldwide.
What is Codex Alimentarius?
The Codex Alimentarius Commission was created in 1963 by FAO and WHO to develop food standards, regulations and related texts such as codes of practice under the Joint FAO / WHO Food Standards Programme.
The main objectives of this program are protecting health of consumers and ensuring fair trade practices, and promoting coordination of all food standards work undertaken by governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
What is the system developed by Three Rivers Software?
The application created by Three Rivers Software for this program, manages the emails received with respect to the Codex Alimentarius nationwide, managed by the MEIC of Costa Rica.
The system includes a registration form for internal and external users, who will automatically receive notifications of new mail received with its themes of discussion. It also controls the timing of deadlines for comments and sending of the the country proposal with notifications and alerts.
The Three Rivers Software system manages a database of all e-mails with attachments received, comments from internal and external users about the topics of interest , as well as reports, alerts and country proposals sent.
